In India the stem cell industry is still at a very nascent stage. The next three years will be very crucial for the Industry as the National Apex Committee for Stem Cell Research and Therapy (NAC-SCRT) has now been set up to formulate a set of rules. In the coming few years, the new regulations are expected to fuel innovation, research and commercialization of the stem cell industry in the country.

The Stemcell 2012 will showcase the status of trials in stem cell therapies, latest research, regulatory laws, cutting-edge technologies and business opportunities in the industry with a clear focus on therapeutics. The participants include doctors, researchers, entrepreneurs from the fields of Medicine and Biotechnology, investors, government officials and members of various fraternities from different countries. A key activity is the ‘one-on-one ‘business meetings that would accelerate transparences for commercialization and industry growth with specific opportunities for networking, funding and forging new alliances.

The conference is definitely an apt platform for sharing perspectives and ideas on research, and various challenges in the industry with commercial applications. The event is also expected to provide an opportunity to forge mutually beneficial relationships. It will also help Overseas and Indian Companies to form Global tie-ups with their counterparts across the world.

“From an international viewpoint, the event will be a gateway of information and ingress point to Indian Stem Cell Business world and vice versa,” said Dr B S Bajaj, convener and secretary general, FABA.
